Welcome to the Good Karma Party!

The Good Karma Party!

In this blog you will witness my adventures as I build my social entrepreneurial company "Indigo Handloom." I named it such because indigo was the first color and handloom, in effect, was the first art form. My mission is to create high quality textiles by using the ancient craft of handloom and to create new markets for handloom weavers....as well as make a living for myself.

I supply custom made fabrics and scarves to western companies. We work with silks, cottons, speciality yarns and wool. Everything is done without any electricity in villages. I work mostly in the western part of India at the moment.

In this blog, I will write about my many trips back and forth to India, the characters who both help and hamper me. I will also take you along to the villages to see the people who make the cloth - they always inspire me!

This blog will also be a place to see updates on the progress of Indigo Handloom and news about the handloom industry. I might even throw in a few interviews with other social entrepreneurs, textile collections, designers and whomever else I find interesting.

I call it the "Good Karma Party" because I love the energy of other social entrepreneurs and I like to imagine we are all at the same party....

This is me on the road in India hunting for textiles and sampling local coconuts.
